UGANDA CLASS OF 2014 VISIT

TRIP BACKGROUND
This group were an absolute pleasure to lead. They were enthusiastic and really got involved in all activities, both leading up to the visit and whilst in country.
The aim for this group was to raise money to enhance the existing buildings and to start the process of knocking down a couple of the original classrooms (that were becoming unsafe) and having enough funds to rebuild.
FUNDRAISING
This group were able to get over the £10,000 mark. The main group fundraisers were Bag Packing at a local supermarket, Musical Concert in the Main Hall and many, many cake sales held in school. Individual efforts included the Yorkshire 3 Peaks walk of 26 miles, (in horrible weather) by Rob Huddleston, Conor Hamilton, Josh Dowbiggin, Joe Westwood, Rob Buckley and Katie Buckingham. Joe Dwyer and David Parmenter entered the Manchester 10km. Joe Westwood gave the money he earned from teaching guitar.
ACHIEVEMENTS
This group were able to maintain the momentum of the success of the previous ones. The money they raised was used to start rebuilding the old classrooms and to get a dormitory built for those who live at the school. They brought great energy to the school and they made a fantastic impression on the young children at Good Samaritan School. Like the 2012 group they kept us all going with lots of singing led by Joe Dwyer on the bus and Joe Westwood at the school. It was a privilege to be with them.
